The dissemination event was held on Thursday, 25th July 2024, during a research seminar organized and hosted by the UMI Institute Research and Innovation Centre (IRIC). The event attracted 78 participants, 30 of whom were physically on-site, and 48 were online. The event was chaired by the Chief of IRIC (Prof. Rose Namara), who thanked the fellow for promoting and championing climate change and sustainability research at the Institute. The fellow presented findings on the status of climate change and sustainability education at Uganda Management Institute, and these were discussed by a visiting scholar from Mbarara University of Science and Technology (MUST), Dr. Ronald Twongyirwe. The discussion illustrated the need for integrating climate change and sustainability education into existing academic, research and community engagement programmes of the Institute and the importance of developing the capacity of Faculty and administrative staff in climate change and sustainability. It emerged from the conversation that the Institute will need to walk the talk through integrating climate action and sustainability issues into its strategy and operations. The event participants were urged to create partnerships with relevant ministries, NGOs, and academia to share expertise and resources for advancing climate action and sustainability at the institution and in the country.
